Designing Your Own Harley Davidson Decals

So you think you have the idea for the perfect Harley Davidson decal, and you’re ready to bring it to life? If so, then you’ll want to read this article on designing your own decals. Specifically we’ll discuss what makes a good design, and where to go to get it done. After reading this article, you should be able to swap out your half shell for your designer’s cap and get a solid design made.

The Principles of Good Design

Here are some things that you are going to want to consider as you put together your masterpiece:

  • Color scheme – Are you going to use color? What color is the decal going to be up against? What base color does the decal have, if any?
  • Contrast – Does it have enough contrast to be easy to understand or is your design so intricate that it will be hard to recognize without being too close?
  • Do you have an existing design to modify – having a starting point will help you go in the right direction
  • Sizing – don’t forget how large a space you’re going to be working with. You don’t want to end up with a design for your Harley Davidson gas tank decals that won’t fit on your tank!

Bringing Your Design to Life

You’re going to need to do a little searching to find a shop that will print your custom decal, but it’s well worth it. There’s nothing like bringing an idea to life and seeing your work on the side of your bike or helmet. Luckily there are plenty of places on the net that will take your design idea and turn it into reality. If you aren’t that great an artist yourself, lots of places will just listen to what you want and do all of the work for you.
